If you recieve the error message "Error accessing AWE32.EXE TextAssist DecTalk server" or "Error starting AWE32.EXE TextAssist DecTalk server", TextAssist will not be able to speak. Check that AWE32.EXE and CTSFRAME.DLL are in your AWIN2 directory, and that the
[Aurora]
Directory=C:\AWIN2
setting is correct in AURORA.INI and that the
[Aurora]
INIFileV2=C:\AWIN2\AURORA.INI
setting is correct in WIN.INI.
Strange Noises
Occasionally the TextAssist DecTalk will make funny beeps and pops when it talks, generally if you repeat what you said, the extraneous noises will go away.
